ST. John’s Red Storm Game Notes

​Hello, and welcome to another edition of ‘Live-Blogging Shish on College Basketball’. Tonight, it is a Big East Battle as Villanova Wildcats taking on St. John’s Red Storm.
 
Wildcats defeated Seton Hall on Saturday, after postponing 7 out of 9 games before that game with the Pirates. They would like to pad their lead in the Big East, as they are currently in first place in front of Creighton by 3 in the loss column and only have played 6 conference games.
 
For the Johnnies, they had a decent non-conference schedule. But they are average in conference play. They are currently 6th place and would be playing in the first round in the Big East Tournament.
 
Wildcats are led by Conor Gillespie in scoring and assists. While Jermaine Samuels leads Villanova in rebounding.
 
As for the Red Storm, they are led by Julian Champagnie in scoring and rebounding. While Posh Alexander leads the Queens School in assists.
 
It is Villanova Wildcats taking on St. John’s Red Storm, coming up shortly.

Final Thoughts:
2nd time in 3 years, where the Johnnies upset Wildcats. This time it is at the Carnesseca Arena. The first Nova/St. John's game at Carnesecca Arena since 1994 and the Red Storm took advantage of the smaller gym. Red Storm won this game on points off turnovers. St. John's outscored Wildcats 19-9 in that category.  

For the Wildcats, they were not shooting the ball tonight. They shot 32.3% overall (27.6% from behind the 3-point arc). Villanova is hoping that they can bounce back on Sunday.

On Sunday, Wildcats return to Pennsylvania to host Georgetown. While Red Storm will head to Rhode Island, to play Providence on Saturday.
