Hello, and welcome to another edition of ‘Live-Blogging Shish on Horse Racing’. Today, it is the 2021 Indiana Derby. This is considered a GIII Stakes race, where the purse for the winner is $300,000.
 
Also, today I will post the five races before the Derby. They are all stakes in the Shelbyville, Indiana Racetrack’s Late Pick 6. The Late Pick 6 has a mandatory payout of around $167K. The races of this Late Pick 6 other than the Indiana Derby are Indiana Oaks, Indiana General Assembly Distaff, MG Schaefer Memorial, JB Schuster, and MH George Memorial.
 
Here is the information for this Late Pick 6 including Indiana Derby.

​Race 7 (MG Schaefer Memorial Stakes), 8.3 furlongs, Dirt, 9 horses, $85K:
In the first of the six stakes today, is the Michael G. Schaefer Memorial Stakes. This race is a co-ed for horses 3-year-olds and up. There are three scratches in these stakes. They are #3 Trumps Revenge, #4 Popularity, and #8 Joyful Heart. The favorite of this race is #1 Shared Sense at 5-2 odds. While the long shot of this race is #2 Truculent at 12-1.

10 MTP: SS is the favorite, because last year he took last year's Indiana Derby.

For this race, it is the JB Schuster Memorial Stakes. This one is for horses 4-years-old and up. The long shot of this race is #7 Trump’s Revenge at 30-1. While the favorite of this race is #9 Midnight Tea Time at 5-2 odds.

These next stakes are the Mari Hulman George Memorial Stakes. This is a battle of fillies and mares. There are two scratches in this race. They are #6 Saracosa and #7 High Regard. #2 Matera is the 3-1 favorite. While #3 Final Cut is a long shot at 15-1.

This next race is the Indiana General Assembly Distaff. These stakes are another race between fillies and mares. There are 6 scratches in this race. They are #2 High Regard, #3 Joy Epifora, #5 Final Cut, #8 Enjoyitwhilewecan, #10 Sister Hanan, and #11 Dominga. Who is racing? Well #6 Ireland’s Raven’s Cry is the favorite at 5-2. While the long shot of this race is #1 Color Me Pretty at 30-1.

And the favorite of this race is #1 Will’s Secret at 5-2.
