​Hello, and welcome to another edition of ‘Live-Blogging Shish on Horse Racing’. Tonight, it is Stakes Racing over at Prairie Meadows in suburban Des Moines, IA.
 
The feature races of tonight are in their Late Pick 5, where the pool is currently around $372,000. In that Pick 5, there are three stakes with purses of $100K. Race 7 is the Iowa Distaff Stakes, Race 8 is the Iowa Sprint, and Race 9 is the Saylorville Stakes.
 
Here are the races for tonight’s card at Prairie Meadows:

Race 6, 5.5 furlongs, Dirt, 6 horses, Allowance Optional Claiming:
 
For the first race of the Late Pick 5. It is a battle of fillies and mares. #3 Emily’s Irish Rose is the favorite at 2-1. While the long shot of this race is #6 Intoxicating Kiss at 15-1.

10 MTP: #5 Classy and Fast is near her morning line of 5-1. She is at 9-2.

In this race, it is the Iowa Sprint. It is a battle of 3-year-olds and older. There are 4 scratches in these stakes. #2 Mollies Rocket, #3 Greeley and Ben, #8 Keller’s Gold, and #9 Hidden Ruler are scratches. #1 Special Reserve is the favorite at 9-5. While #4 Mr. Jagermeister is an 8-1 long shot.

As for these stakes, it is a battle of fillies and mares. There are two scratches in this race. #3 Blinkers is a 12-1 long shot. While #5 Frank’s Rockette is a 3-5 favorite. No Place, Show, Trifeta, nor Superfecta wagering.

15 MTP:  Blinkers is the long shot at 31-1.
10 MTP: #1 Saguaro Row is now down to 9-1.  
5 MTP: #2 Quick Decision is now at 8-1.

The Nightcap of the Late Pick 5 is a battle of colts and geldings. There are two scratches in this race. #2 Take Me Up Brady and #3 Revival are scratches. The favorite of this race is #7 Drill’s LI’L Man at 2-1 odds. While the long shot of this race is #5 Data Storm at 10-1. No Show nor Superfecta wagering.

15 MTP:  #6 Mr. Shapoor is a 12-1 long shot.
10 MTP:  DS is at 2-1 odds.
