Hello, and welcome to another edition of ‘Live-Blogging Shish on Horse Racing’. This Afternoon, it is Hawthorne Racecourse’s Pick 3 featuring The Third Chance Stakes.
 
The featured race is a battle involving fillies and mares, between 3-year-olds and upward. These horses are Illinois bred and raised. It has a $75K purse. And it is the first of two stakes to be held for the Thoroughbred Spring/Summer Meet in Cicero/Stickney’s Racecourse.

 Race 5, 8 furlongs, Turf, 10 Horses, $33K:
The first race is a battle of colts and geldings. There are a couple of scratches in this race. #2 Notary & #9 Blazen Road are the scratches. The favorite of this race is #7 Dowagiac Chief (Morning Line: 3-1). While the two long shots of this race are #3 Kennesaw and #8 Grey Streak (Both 20-1).

For the middle race, it is another battle of 3-years-and older. #10 Normandy Angel is a scratch in this race. While the long shot of this race is #2 One Ace (30-1). And the favorite of this race is #5 Stan the Cameraman (3-1).

15 MTP: #4 Breakfast in Bed is a 36-1 long shot.
10 MTP: #11 Procharger is at his morning line of 8-1.
5 MTP: #3 Lightning Crashes is down to 3-1. 
2 MTP: SF is the favorite at 3-1. While #1 C F V NobodyCares is a 34-1 long shot.

Race 7 (Third Chance Stakes), 6 furlongs, Dirt, 9 Horses, $75K:
In the finale of this pick 3, it is the Third Chance Stakes. Once again it is a battle consisting of Illinois fillies and mares. #5 Oeuvre is the favorite at 7-5 odds. While #7 Cowgirl Frankie is a 30-1 long shot. #3 Purr Sea is a scratch.

20 MTP: #9 Rainy Mountain is a scratch.
15 MTP: #6 Way Too Smarte is a 44-1 long shot.
10 MTP: #5 Oeuvre is the only horse with single-digit odds. 
5 MTP:  #8 Cat Attack is the closest to Oeuvre at 16-1.
2 MTP: Oeuvre is the 1-9 favorite. While WTS is a 52-1 long shot.

Final Thoughts:
Oeuvre dominated her way to win the 2023 Third Chance Stakes. She will be joined Grey Streak and Santino Fantasy, for the payout of $75.25. 

Grey Streak was the big upset. As he won his race at 45-1.
