Hello, and welcome to another edition of ‘Live-Blogging Shish on Horse Racing’. Tonight, it is the opening night of Stickney, Illinois’ Hawthorne Racecourse’s Summer Harness Meet. Their opening night starts off with the 3-year-old Cardinal & Violet Stakes.

In the Cardinal & Violet Races, the Cardinal races are for the colts & geldings. While the Violet is for the fillies.

In harness racing there two types of standardbred horses who participate in harness racing, pacers & trotters. Pacers move two legs on the same side at a time. While Trotters use their two diagonal legs at a time.

Tonight, I will be posting the Late Pick 3, featuring the Cardinal Stakes.

Race 7 (Cardinal ICF Trot) 11 horses, 1 Mile, Dirt, $46.3K:

In this trot, #1 LousDobb is the favorite at 3-2. While there are five long shots at 25-1 (#2 Choochy, #3 LoyzHonkeyTonkHero, #5 Hot to Trot Sparky, #7 Lous Barbosa, and #10 Lou’s Di Nomite).

10 MTP: LD opens up as an even-odd favorite.
8 MTP: Choochy, HtTS, and LB are 99-1 long shots.
6 MTP: #8 Romantic Warrior is at 9-1.
4 MTP: #11 Fox Valley Cairo is at 8-1.
2 MTP: LD is at 3-5 favorite. Choochy & HtTS are 70-1 long shots. FVC is near his morning line of 5-1. He is at 6-1.

For the penultimate race of opening night of Hawthorne’s 2022 Summer Harness Meet, it is a battle of colts & geldings. There are 4 long shots in this race. (#6 Buck Art, #7 Imnottellingyaagain, #8 Marshall Malone, and #9 Rockstars Virgin). The favorite of this pace, is #3 Skyway Gymmaster at 5-2.

10 MTP: #1 RG's Reckless Love is a 8-5 favorite.
8 MTP: #9 RV is a 60-1 long shot.
6 MTP: SG is at his morning line of 5-2.
4 MTP: SG is back as the favorite at 2-1.
2 MTP: #4 Incredible Man is the favorite at 9-5. RV is a 50-1 long shot. While Fox Valley Monaco is at his morning line at 4-1.

The finale of the night is the Cardinal ICF Pace. The favorite of this pace is #9 Fox Valley Ozzy at 5-2. While there are four 30-1 long shots. (#5 Pericles, #6 Cole Thornton, #7 Major Grin, #11 Spoken For).

10 MTP: #9 is off to an 1-5 favorite.
8 MTP: Pericles, MG, and SF are 99-1 long shots. 
6 MTP: #3 Get E Up is near his morning line of 3-1. He is at 7-2.
4 MTP: #4 Josie Rocksmyworld (M/L 10-1, Currently 12-1) & #10 Fox Valley Crete (M/L 12-1, Currently 10-1) is near their morning lines. 
2 MTP: FVO is the favorite at 4-5. Major Grin is a 99-1 long shot. And FVC is at his morning line of 12-1.

The 2-year-olds will race their Cardinal & Violet races on Friday and Saturday July 8th & 9th.
