Hello, and welcome to another edition of ‘Live-Blogging Shish on Horse Racing’. This Evening, it is QuarterHouse Futurities and Derby.

The Feature Race of this post is the 2021 Ruidoso Derby. This is the first leg of the QuarterHorse Triple Crown all held at New Mexico’s Ruidoso Downs Racetrack. Although this field will not have the winner of the 2020 Rainbow and All-American Futurity Whistle Stop Café, nor the 2020 Ruidoso Futurity Winner Cyber Monday, it will have the Show Horse in the Show Horse in last year’s Ruidoso and All-American Futurities Jettz.

Jettz was the favorite in Ruidoso Futurity, before finishing third to Cyber Monday. He did not qualify for the Rainbow Futurity. And he finished third behind Whistle Stop Café. Jettz enters today’s race at 8-1. Jettz will also be the #10 horse in this derby.

Then the first and last race of this post are the Lassie and Laddie Futurities. Lassie is the futurity for 2-Year-Old Fillies.. Laddie is the futurity for 2-year-old colts and geldings.

For this race, it is the futurity for fillies. The Favorite of this Futurity is #7 Sheza Fast Blood at 9-5. There are two long shots at 20-1. #4 LRH Voodoo Runner and #10 RDD Runaway Jacquie.

Ruidoso Downs Race 10 (2021 Ruidoso Derby), 400 yards, dirt, 10 horses:
Although Jettz is in this race, he is not the favorite. That belongs to #9 Empressum at 6-5. #7 Karl Strauss and #8 KJ Sonny P are 20-1 long shots.

Delta Downs Race 9 (2021 Laddie Futurity) 330 yards, dirt, 10 horses:

Finally this futurity is a battle of colts and geldings. #9 Magic Bux is a 20-1 long shot. While the favorite of this race is #5 Ultimo Alex at 5-2.

Delta Downs, Race 7 (2021 Lassie Futurity), 330 yards, dirt, 10 horses:

For this race, it is the futurity for fillies. The Favorite of this Futurity is #7 Sheza Fast Blood at 9-5. There are two long shots at 20-1. #4 LRH Voodoo Runner and #10 RDD Runaway Jacquie.
20 MTP: SFB opens up as a 3-1 favorite. 
15 MTP: #9 Runaway First Shine is now scratched from this futurity.
10 MTP: #5 LRH Voodoo Runner is a 24-1 long shot.
2 MTP: #6 Jess Dash Fast is a 5-2 favorite. While LVR and #2 KP Prospect are 15-1 long shots.

Although Jettz is in this race, he is not the favorite. That belongs to #9 Empressum at 6-5. #7 Karl Strauss and #8 KJ Sonny P are 20-1 long shots.
20 MTP: Empressum opens up as a 4/5 favorite.
15 MTP: #1 Valiant Stars is a 50-1 long shot.
10 MTP: #6 Volcoms Class is at her morning line of 20-1 odds.
5 MTP: Jettz is down at 5-1 odds.
​2 MTP: Empressum is the favorite at 6-5. While VS is the 20-1 long shot.

Finally this futurity is a battle of colts and geldings. #9 Magic Bux is a 20-1 long shot. While the favorite of this race is #5 Ultimo Alex at 5-2.
20 MTP: #1 Put Me N Coach opens up as a 8-5 favorite.
15 MTP: #2 Jess Louisiana is a 45-1 long shot.
10 MTP: #10 Guirdys Credit Card is near his morning line of 5-1. He is at 6-1. 
5 MTP: PMNC is at 7-2 odds. 
2 MTP: #4 Blood Money is the favorite at 2-1. While the long shot is #6 TF Jess Me is a 25 long shot.

Post: Blood Money is refusing to get in the gate. #2 is off to an early start.

Blood Money wins the 2021 Laddie Futurity at 9-5. He will earn wagers $5.60. Apolitical Tornado placed earning wagers $19.20. $1 Exacta (4-3) paying out $40.50. $0.50 Trifecta (4-3-8) paying out $144.10. $0.10 Superfecta (4-3-8-6) paying out $261.52.

Final Thoughts:
It was a great day for Sheza Fast Blood, Empressum, and Blood Money. Sheza Fast Blood won the Lassie Futurity, while Blood Money won the Laddie Futurity at Delta Downs. 

But the Featured Race of the Post was won by Empressum, as he won 2021 Ruidoso Derby. 

Ruidoso Downs Racetrack will have start their Triple Crown of QuarterHorse Futurity, Tomorrow Evening. As the 2021 Ruidoso Futurity is the first leg of the Triple Crown.
