The Nationals come in with a record of 21-18, while the Diamondbacks are coming in with a record of 24–13. The Nationals 2.5 GB the Atlanta Braves for the N.L. East Lead, while the Diamondbacks are on top of the N.L. West.

Tonight’s starting pitchers are Max Scherzer for the Nationals and Matt Koch for the Snakes. Scherzer comes in with a record of 6-1, 1.74 ERA, 0.85 WHIP, 6.15 K/BB, and 4.19 P/PA. As for Koch, he is 2-0, with a 2.13 ERA, 0.99 WHIP, 2.43 K/BB, and 3.88 P/PA.

Final Thoughts:
If the game only lasted 2:24, it is because the game was a pitcher's dual. Matt Koch in a losing effort was outstanding, throwing 8 IP, giving up 3 earned runs. But Max Scherzer shows why he is perennial Cy Young Award candidate, going 7 innings, giving up 1 run,  striking out 11, with no walks. Oh and he drove in the game-winning run, with a ground-rule double.
