Hello, and welcome to another edition of ‘Live-Blogging Shish on Professional Ice Hockey’. Tonight, it is an American Hockey League game, between the Grand Rapids Griffins (Detroit Red Wings AHL Affiliate) and the Cleveland Monsters (Columbus Blue Jackets Affiliate).
Griffins (28-33-4-4, 64 points) were eliminated from the Calder Cup Playoff contention. They would like to play spoiler against the Monsters. Cleveland (31-30-5-2, 69 points) are in a four-team race for the final two spots. They have a game at hand on Utica, Laval, and Belleville Senators. However, Utica can clinch tonight with a loss by the Monsters. Laval is also playing tonight, hosting Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. So, this is a must win for the Monsters. Griffins are led by Joel L’Esperance in goals scored. While Taro Hirose leads Grand Rapids in points. As for the Monsters, they are led by Trey Fix-Wolansky in scoring. It is the Grand Rapids Griffins and Cleveland Monsters, coming up shortly.
