Both teams ended in a 1-1 draw, in the first match. In the second match, the Thorns defeated the Courage by a score of 2-1, due to own goals by Courage.

Final Thoughts:
Just a dominating performance by the defending champs. They showed that they are still the Women among Girls in the NWSL. As for the Thorns, this was a gut punch. They only 3 matches remaining and are looking to fight with Red Stars, Royals, and Reign, for Playoff Positioning.

However the Courage now lead the NWSL, with 37 points and 2 games on hand against Thorns (36) and Red Stars (35). They have put a stranglehold on the NWSL Shield. 

The Thorns will host Houston Dash on Saturday September 21st. While the Courage will host Orlando Pride, This Saturday.
