Barracuda (17-21-0-2, 36 points) & Silver Knights (15-24-0-3, 33 points) are fortunate to have the Bakersfield Condors and San Diego Gulls in their 10-team Pacific Division. Barracuda is in 7th place, while the Silver Knights are in 8thplace. If the season ended tonight, these two teams will be in the Calder Cup Playoffs. A win by the Silver Knights will keep them in the last playoff spot in the Pacific Division. They need to win, due to playing 5 more games than Bakersfield. This Afternoon, it is an American Hockey League Atlantic Division game, between Bridgeport Islanders (New York Islanders AHL Affiliate) and Springfield Thunderbirds (St. Louis Blues Affiliate). This is a battle of the Bottom Teams in the Atlantic Division Standings. However, both teams are still in the hunt for a Calder Cup Playoff Spot. According to Wikipedia, the Calder Cup Playoffs are going to use the same playoff format as they did last year. What that means in the Atlantic Division that the top 6 teams will head to the Calder Cup Playoffs. Islanders (15-15-6-1, 37 points) are tied with their in-state rival Hartford Wolf Pack, but have played one more game than the New York Rangers AHL Affiliate. They got embarrassed at home against the Utica Comets on Saturday. But Today, they are facing the Springfield Thunderbirds (15-16-1-4, 35 points). The Defending Eastern Conference Champions are in last place in the Atlantic Division. They have dropped 3 straight games. But a win today will have them in a 3-way tie for 6th in points. Eagles (18-10-2-0, 38 points) are coming off getting swept by the Iowa Wild, Last Week. They now head to Southern California, in hopes of gaining some ground on the Firebirds. Coachella Valley (20-6-3-0, 43 points) is having a great inaugural season. They are currently tied for 1st Place in the Pacific Division. And they have faced 29 games on the road. Now they are at their permanent home at Acrisure Arena. They would like to continue their momentum going into the 2nd Half of the Season.
