Hello and welcome to another edition of 'Live Blogging on Shish on College Basketball'. Tonight it is the Big East Quarterfinals as the
Providence Friars take on the Xavier Musketeers. The Friars come into tonight's game defeating Creighton, by the score of 72-68 in OT. Xavier advance to the semifinals with a 88--60 win over St. John's.

Providence comes in with a record of 20-12, 10-8 in Big East play and a RPI of 35. A win against Xavier and it will all but sure the Friars of an NCAA Tournament bid. The seniors are looking at being an historic bunch, as they are looking at the possibility of making it to the Madness all 4 years of their time at the Rhode Island school.

Statistically the Friars are led by Rodney Bullock in scoring. Alpha Diallo leads in rebounding. And Kyron Cartwright leads Providence in assists.

As for the Musketeers, they cannot afford to lose to Providence. A loss to the Friars and Xavier could be looking at losing the #1 seed in the tournament.

It was a miraclous performance by Xavier in the last 15 minutes and overtime. They overcame a 17-point defiicit. As for Xavier, this was a disappointing loss. The question will be whether Xavier will get a #1 seed in the NCAA MBK Tournament.

Hello and welcome to another edition of ‘Live Blogging on Shish on College Basketball’. Tonight it is a Big East matchup between Seton Hall Pirates and Xavier Musketeers. The Pirates come in with a record of 17-8, 6-6 in Big East Play, and a RPI of 24. The Musketeers come into tonight’s game with a record of 23-3, 11-2 in the Big East and a RPI of 2.

The Pirates are struggling. They have dropped three straight games and 5 out of their last seven games. They was talk about them having a Players-only meeting after their loss to Georgetown. We’ll see if they worked some things out between this past weekend and tonight.

Statistically the Pirates are led by Desi Rodriguez in scoring. Angel Delgado leads the team in rebounding. And Khadeen Carrington is the Pirates leader in assists.

As for the Musketeers, they are having the highest rankings in school history. They ranked #4 in the AP Poll, an RPI of 2, and looking at being a #1 seed in the NCAA MBK Tournament. They also have a 1/2-game over Villanova in the Big East Standings. Tonight’s game is a potential trap game, as they host Villanova on Saturday.

Well it got ugly in the 2nd Half. But Xavier prevails with the leadership of Trevon Bluiett who scored 37 points. As for the Pirates, they are looking for answers as to why they are underachieving.

It is that time again for another edition of my NCAA MBK Brackets. This week Virginia, Villanova, Xavier (OH), and Duke are the #1 seeds. While Florida, Utah, Washington, and Gonzaga are the last four who are in the Tournament. Here are this week’s Brackets.

This is a battle between a basketball program who went to last year’s Elight 8 (Xavier) and one who won the National Championship (Villanova) a couple of years ago. The Musketeers come into tonight’s clash with a record of 15-2 (3-1 in Big East), while the Wildcats come in with a record of (14-2, 2-1).

The Musketeers are playing like a returning Elite 8 team, hoping to make it to the school’s first-ever Final Four in April. Xavier has Trevor Bluiett returning from last year’s team.

Bluiett leads the Musketeers in scoring (19.4 PPG). While Tyrique Jones leads the Blue Blobs in rebounding (5.9). Finally Quentin Goodwin leads the Musketeers in Assists.

Well Villanova did a great job of showing up in this home game vs. Xavier. They never trailed in this game, as they played a Musketeers team, who is looking like they are struggling in their last two games.  

Villanova will visit St. John's on Saturday. Xavier will also play on Saturday, as they will face Creighton.

This is my first Brackets for the 2018 NCAA MBK Brackets. This week’s #1 seeds are: Xavier (OH), Arizona St., TCU, and Michigan St. The Last Four in the tournament are: St. Mary’s (CA), Creighton, Minnesota, and UCLA. The First Four Out are: Georgia, Providence, Ohio St., and Utah.

My picks for the 2017 18 NCAA MBK Final Four is North Carolina, Xavier (OH), Kansas, and West Virginia. I believe North Carolina will repeat with Berry and Pinson returning from last year and having Luke Maye on the inside. They will defeat Xavier. Xavier will be returning 4 starters including Trevor Bluiett. Here is the rest of my first Top 25.
